Country Blinds and Flooring Subfloor Preparation – Conditions

1. Subfloor Condition

All Country Blinds and Flooring (CBF) quotations are based on the assumption that the existing subfloor is structurally sound, level, dry, and suitable for the installation of the selected flooring product. If this is found not to be the case, subfloor preparation will be quoted in your initial quotation with an estimated quotation range varying based on the level of work required.
Subfloor conditions cannot always be fully assessed at the time of quotation or check measure, particularly where floor coverings are in place or access is restricted.

2. Inspection at Check Measure / Installation

A more detailed assessment of the subfloor may be carried out at the time of check measure and/or upon removal of existing floor coverings at installation.
The customer acknowledges that concealed issues may only become evident at this stage and a secondary invoice may be required to prepare the sub-floor to a level that is acceptable and in line with the manufacturer’s installation specifications.

3. Additional Subfloor Works

If subfloor preparation or rectification is required, this may include (but is not limited to):

  • Floor leveling (grinding, filling, or self-levelling compounds)
  • Moisture mitigation treatments
  • Repair or replacement of damaged subfloor sections
  • Removal of contaminants (e.g. adhesives, coatings)
  • Installation of underlays or moisture barriers
  • Such works are not included in the original quotation unless explicitly stated.

4. Variation Costs

Where additional subfloor preparation is required:

  • CBF will advise the customer of the issue and provide a quotation or estimate for the required works.
  • No additional work will proceed without customer approval (verbal or written).
  • These costs will be treated as a variation to the contract and charged accordingly on a second invoice.

5. Delays

Any required subfloor preparation may result in delays to the installation timeline. CBF will not be liable for delays caused by unforeseen subfloor conditions outside of their reasonable control.

6. Customer Responsibility

The customer is responsible for:

  • Ensuring reasonable access to the site
  • Disclosing any known subfloor issues (e.g. moisture problems, structural concerns, asbestos materials)
  • Understanding that older properties may have a higher likelihood of requiring subfloor preparation
  • Any costs associated with additional installation time and restricted access to room/s requiring subfloor preparation

7. Refusal of Works

If CBF, including its employees, representatives, or contracted installers, recommends subfloor preparation, expansion gaps, clearance allowances, transitions, or any other installation requirements necessary to meet Australian Standards, manufacturer’s guidelines, or industry best practice, and the Customer declines or refuses such recommendations, the following shall apply:

  • Proceeding Against Advice
Should the Customer instruct CBF to proceed with installation contrary to such recommendations, the Customer acknowledges that the installation is being completed strictly at their direction and risk.
  • Limitation of Responsibility
CBF and its contractors accept no responsibility or liability for any issues arising from the refusal of recommended works, including but not limited to:
    • Product failure
    • Movement, lifting, peaking, or separation
    • Excessive wear or damage
    • Structural or aesthetic defects
    • Moisture damage (if applicable)
  • Warranty Impact
To the extent permitted by law:
    • All installation warranties provided by CBF are void; and
    • Manufacturer warranties may be void or impacted due to non-compliance with installation requirements.
  • Customer Acknowledgement
The Customer confirms they have been clearly advised of the risks associated with declining recommended preparation and/or installation requirements and accepts full responsibility for any resulting outcomes.
